Aquaponics is an extremely sustainable and efficient way of producing both food crops and fish at the same time. Aquaponics uses a ‘closed loop’ system in which water is used as a growing medium for both fish and plants, with the fish fertilizing the water in which the plants grow, continuously recycling water.

NGN is currently looking into the opportunities for insect use as fish feed in this system in collaboration with HAS University of Applied Sciences and Blue Acres Aquaponics (Duurzame Kost)
